WILLOCK SETS NEW PREMIER LEAGUE RECORD

Newcastle United midfielder Joe Willock has set a new record in the Premier League after his goal in the game against bottom club Sheffield United on Wednesday. The Arsenal loanee scored the only goal of the game as the Magpies welcomed their fans back to St. James Park with a 1-0 win over visitors Sheffield United who have already sealed their place in the English Championship for next season.

Willock is on loan at Newcastle United from the Gunners having joined the Northeast club in the final days of the January transfer window.

His goal against the Blades ensured that the young English midfielder became the youngest player to score in six successive games in the Premier League at the age of 21 years and 272 days. In total, Willock has seven goals for Newcastle United since moving to the club at the start of the year.

Willock scored on his debut for Newcastle United in the 3-2 win at home to Southampton in February shortly after his loan move from Arsenal was confirmed. His current scoring run started with the equaliser at home to Tottenham Hotspur. The Arsenal loaneecame off the bench to score the second Newcastle United goal in a 2-2 draw with Spurs.

Since the Spurs game, Willock has scored against West Ham United, Liverpool, Leicester City, Manchester City and Sheffield United.

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has already talked about retaining the services of the Arsenal loanee beyond this summer when his loan spell ends. The Magpies want to sign him on a permanent deal.
