Magpies fans would have fared the worst when Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool an early lead with an impressive finish. Ex-Fiorentina and Chelsea attacker Salah took his tally in the Premier League to 20 goals with the third minute goal against Newcastle United.

The Reds failed to add to the early goal from Salah in the first half of the encounter not because of the lack of creating clear-cut opportunities but for poor finishing. Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota were all guilty of poor finishing.

Liverpool paid for the missed chances from the first half as Newcastle United significantly improved in the second half. The Magpies thought they had been rewarded for their second half endeavours when substitute Callum Wilson equalised only for the England international to be denied by an offside call. Newcastle United would go on to still earn a point with Arsenal loanee Joe Willock rescuing a point for the Northeast club.

Willock is on loan at Newcastle United from Arsenal and he scored his fourth goal for the club to rescue a draw for the Magpies.

With the draw, Newcastle United moved nine points clear ofFulham who occupy the last spot in the relegation zone. Newcastle United need a maximum of seven points from the final five league games to be sure of another Premier League season mathematically.
