WHAT NEXT FOR NEWCASTLE AFTER PROMOTION?

Newcastle United achieved their target of returning back to the Premier League within a year after they lost the status at the end of last season. Now the question is what’s next after regaining top tier status.

Rafael Benitez came late last season and he was supposed to rescue them from danger. It seemed he came too late as the Magpies still went down. They pressured him and he accepted to remain even though he had contractual back up to walk away. After seeing them through their promotion bid, Benitez would likely guide them in their first season back up.

The Spanish tactician invested £55 million to get 12 players. He made a profit of £30 million from the players that were cut off and they brought in £85 million in revenue. With his experience and the relative better investment in the team compared to other Championshipsides, you would expect that Newcastle get promotion by March but the second tier of English football is complicated.

Aside Newcastle, only Burnley have secured an automatic promotion back to the Premier League within a year in recent times. So Benitez seem to deserve his £5 million annual salary. Continue reading WHAT NEXT FOR NEWCASTLE AFTER PROMOTION?

Newcastle United’s summer transfer activities aren’t over

Rafael Benitez has been in charge of Newcastle United for around 6 months and his task in this new season is to help push the English club back into the Premier League.

Newcastle United was competing in the top tier English League during the 2015-16 season but they went through a forgettable season after finishing at the 18th spot and suffering relegation.

The main objective is to earn a promotion spot that would allow Newcastle United on making a return to the Premier League and it seems like Rafael Benitez is focusing in adding new players to his squad as he has already signed 8 players during this summer transfer window and the Spanish manager has recently stated that the transfer activities are far from over as he still has other players that he is intending to sign.

‘’We are working hard and I check with managing director Lee Charnley every day. We are talking with agents and thinking about what we have to do to improve the team and make sure the squad has the right number of players’’

“It’s not easy, though. As soon as Premier League clubs had more money, it was difficult because everybody is spending big money. We have targets and are working on them. Hopefully, we will do something sooner rather than later.” Newcastle United’s Rafael Benitez said as he voiced his desire to continue adding more players to his squad. Ian Wright: ‘’Giroud can win Arsenal the title’’

Ian Wright along with Thierry Henry are considered to be 2 of the best players to have ever worn the Arsenal jersey. Wright played for Arsenal from 1991 until 1998 and during this period of time, he managed to make over 200 appearances and scored 128 goals for the English club.

Even though it’s been around 17 years since Wright last played for Arsenal, he still remains up to date with how things are going with the Premier League club and Wright himself has stated on numerous occasions that Arsenal is one of his most preferred clubs.

Wright retired from playing professional competitive football back in 2000 and since then, he has turned into a football pundit and radio personality. In one of the most recent television sessions of Ian Wright, he talked about Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League and Wright emphasized on the importance that Olivier Giroud has played and will continue to play for Arsenal.

Former star of Arsenal, Ian Wright believes that Olivier Giroud has what it takes to propel Arsenal to the league title as he said: “I think he is. I’ve always thought he was because he scores goals. My only problem with Olivier is the fact that can he really dig in with defenders that are trying to batter him all over the place, and he did. He showed he could do that. If he does that with Ozil in the form that he is in, Sanchez to come back, then of course because he scores goals’’ Continue reading Ian Wright: ‘’Giroud can win Arsenal the title’’

John Carver believes that he will be able to succeed in his role

Newcastle United’s caretaker manager John Carver believes that he will be able to succeed in his role and get a permanent position at the club, but he places his hopes on the club providing him with much better players.

Newcastle are far from being consistent in the second half of the season and this is widely linked to the managerial ability of Carver. Alan Pardew was a Newcastle manager for four years and during this period he finished the season just outside the top four in the 2011-12 season. He managed to achieve this despite being on a limited budget.

Carver has no complaints about the players he has at his disposal, but in the huge number of injuries mean that he has had to put together a makeshift defence for matches against top teams. This coupled with the lack of a motivational factor for the players has resulted in the club winning just one out of the last five matches. Despite this, they remain a comfortable 10 points away from the relegation zone with eight matches left. Newcastle are almost certain to stay clear of relegation if they win another match. Carver has pointed out to the injuries to key players like Stephen Taylor, which has seen him use players out of position in the defence.
