Pardew gains relief from victory

Alan Pardew and Newcastle United secured their first victory of the season in the Premier League after defeating Leicester City at St. James’ Park when they met each other on October 18. A solo goal from Gabriel Obertan was enough for Newcastle United to come out on top with the victory and all 3 points.

This victory is a big relief for the manager Alan Pardew as he has recently been put under pressure with Newcastle United going through an extremely slow start of the season and is located in the bottom spots of the Premier League.

The match was delayed for around 40 minutes after the new big screen in the stadium of Newcastle United had to be reassured with all of the panels that are surrounding it and this forced all the fans that made their trip to watch the game having to wait outside of the stadium until the screen was appropriately secured.

After everything was assured, the home fans entered the stands and watched Newcastle United picking up their first triumph of the season but this victory came at a cost for the relegation threatened club as they will be investigated by the FA and Premier League following the big screen incident.

When the match was over, Newcastle United released a public apology to everyone for the delay.

An official statement from the website of Newcastle United said: “Newcastle United Football Club would like to offer sincere apologies to everyone affected by the delay to kick-off of today’s Barclays Premier League fixture with Leicester City at St. James’ Park’’

“Turnstiles were closed until 3.15pm whilst loose dressing panels surrounding the newly-installed LED screen in the Leazes Stand were assessed and made secure by engineers. Kick-off was subsequently rescheduled to 4pm’’

This was the first time that the big screen was being used at the stadium and the Premier League could be facing a sanction or punishment for this event which delayed the match.

Pardew Believes Fans Were Responsible For Teams Failure

In an amazing postmatch press conference, Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew said that the fans were responsible for his team’s failure to keep a lead against Crystal Palace in a recent league match. Newcastle took on Crystal Palace, who have recently appointed Neil Warnock as their new manager, at St James’s Park looking to get to the first win of the season. After having played three matches this campaign, Newcastle are still searching for this elusive victory. However, they will have to wait beyond the international break in order to do so after Crystal Palace equalised with only seconds remaining on the clock.

The 3-3 draw could have easily gone Newcastle’s way if the fans have not been excited during the final minutes of the encounter according to Pardew. He suggested that the excitement of fans spilled onto the pitch and made his players attack more towards the end of the match rather than protect the lead. Newcastle allowed Gayle to score within the opening minute, but they showed incredible resilience throughout the match to get on the lead in the 88th minute through Williamson. For the next few minutes, there was incredible jubilation inside the ground as seemed finally that three points were on the way.

On loan Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha, though, equalised in injury time to spoil the celebrations. “We should have had all three points. Perhaps we got wrapped up in the crowd trying to get a fourth and it is frustrating to concede. Our fans went mad and we got dragged along a little bit with it. We weren’t as tight defensively today as we have been and Palace caused us problems in the wide areas,” said the Newcastle manager. It is reported that Pardew could lose his job if he fails to win the next two matches.
